Description

Viral gastroenteritis—often called stomach flu—is a highly contagious intestinal infection caused by several types of viruses. Most people usually recover from this condition without any complications. However, gastroenteritis can be serious especially in infants, older people, and people with weak immune systems.

The viruses are usually transmitted through eating or drinking contaminated foods and drinks. They can also be transmitted through sharing eating utensils, foods or drinks with a person who has the virus.
